Lakshya is a slow-burn character study disguised as a war epic. While the first half meanders through Karan’s privileged laziness, the second half delivers some of the most stunning war cinematography ever shot in India (actual Kargil locations). Hrithik Roshan delivers a career-best nuanced performance, shedding his "Greek God" image for raw vulnerability. Preity Zinta is competent as the catalyst for his change, and Amitabh Bachchan’s cameo is magnetic.

The film is set during the Kargil War in 1999 and revolves around the theme of patriotism, duty, and sacrifice. The story follows the journey of Major Rajeev Singh (played by Akshay Kumar), a young army officer who is tasked with capturing a strategic peak in the Kargil sector, which is occupied by Pakistani soldiers.
