George Sr. is fixing the lawnmower when Sheldon comes in, distraught. Sheldon explains that Missy has been bribed, Meemaw is hiding ill-gotten gains, and his mother is oblivious. George laughs. Sheldon: “This isn’t funny. This is a breakdown of moral order.” George: “Son, your Meemaw wins a little money, she wants to keep it. That’s not a sin, that’s smart.”

Mary announces that Meemaw is coming over for dinner. She’s been acting secretive lately, and Mary suspects she’s hiding something “sinful.” Sheldon, ever literal, asks if she means actual sin (greed, envy, lust) or the colloquial “sinful” like eating an entire cake. Mary sighs. George Sr

Mary is furious at Meemaw — not for the gambling, but for the lying and the public scene. Sheldon listens from the stairs. He goes downstairs and says: “I calculated that if Meemaw had told the truth immediately, the probability of a fight was 23%. By lying, it rose to 89%. Therefore, her sin wasn’t greed. It was poor statistical reasoning.” George laughs
