The movie picks up where the previous film, , left off. Steve Rogers (Captain America) is still reeling from the events of the Chitauri invasion. He and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) are approached by General Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford), who informs them of a potential threat to global security.
