Culligan | Water Softener Regeneration
I appreciate that the system tracks our water usage so it doesn't waste salt regenerating when the tank is still good. It’s incredibly low maintenance—I just check the salt tank once a month. It’s a bit of an investment upfront compared to big-box store brands, but the efficiency of the regeneration cycle makes it worth it for the water bill savings alone. Highly recommended!
My main gripe isn't the machine itself, but the proprietary nature of Culligan. You are largely locked into their service contracts for maintenance. While the regeneration works great now, I worry about the long-term cost if the valve head fails and I can't just buy a generic part at the hardware store. Also, the rental fees (if you don't buy outright) can add up to more than the cost of the unit over time. culligan water softener regeneration
| Aspect | Details | |--------|---------| | | Pre-set time (often 2:00 AM) or meter-instant (after a set gallons used). | | Manual start | Look for a "Regenerate" button or knob. Turn/press and hold. | | Salt level | Keep the brine tank at least 1/3 full of salt. Never let it run empty. | | Cycle skip | On some models, you can advance stages by pressing/turning the knob. | | Noise | A backwash is loudest. If it’s screeching or hammering, call for service. | I appreciate that the system tracks our water
