Of course. Android 2.3 didn't have the "Allow from this source" toggle in settings. It was hidden deep in the Application settings under "Unknown Sources." He checked the box. A warning popped up, written in a font that hasn't been used in a decade, warning him that his phone might explode if he installed unverified apps.
