For a quartet of zoo escapees who started as comic relief in a 2005 blockbuster, the penguins of Madagascar—Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private—have amassed a surprisingly dense and chaotic legacy. From their breakout role in Madagascar to their own feature film and, most pivotally, the 118-episode TV series The Penguins of Madagascar (2008–2015), the flightless operatives have left behind a trail of mission reports, deleted gags, and digital artifacts.
Aided by Nickelodeon, this was the first Nicktoon co-produced with DreamWorks.
