The movie picks up with Thor, now king of Asgard, dealing with the aftermath of Hela's resurrection. However, a new threat emerges in the form of Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), an alien who seeks to eliminate all gods in the universe. This quest leads Thor to team up with his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who now wields Mjolnir, Thor's enchanted hammer, and becomes the new Thor.
