From a production standpoint, Episode 2 maintains the cinematic quality established in the series premiere. The lighting and set design effectively capture the late 19th-century Philippine atmosphere, contrasting the ruggedness of the field camps with the relative opulence of the Aguinaldo estate. Yet, the performance of Jorge Estregan as Aguinaldo anchors the episode. His portrayal of a reluctant, calculating leader provides a necessary counterweight to Martin’s fiery Bonifacio. Estregan’s Aguinaldo is presented as a man burdened by the calculus of leadership, forced to make decisions that would forever stain his legacy—a complex, if controversial, interpretation of the first president. el presidente s01e02 mpc
