Wiki [repack]: Far Cry 2

The player controls a (one of nine possible characters, each with a brief backstory) hired to infiltrate the country and assassinate a ruthless arms dealer known as The Jackal . Upon arrival, the player contracts malaria and discovers that the conflict is fueled by the Jackal’s weapons. The mercenary gets caught in the crossfire, forced to do missions for both factions while pursuing the Jackal, only to realize that the true path to ending the war is to destroy the country’s diamond trade and help fleeing civilians escape.
