However, this influence has not always been positive. Some mainstream LGBTQ spaces have excluded trans people—lesbian festivals banning trans women, gay bars refusing entry to trans men, or biphobia/transphobia within pride events.

Individuals whose behavior or appearance does not align with traditional societal gender norms.

As trans activist wrote: “No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.” In that spirit, the transgender community remains both a distinct identity and an irreplaceable pillar of LGBTQ culture.
