Marlin, an overprotective clownfish who lost his wife and most of his eggs in a barracuda attack, lives in constant fear with his sole surviving son, Nemo. Meanwhile, Nemo is placed in a fish tank in a dentist's office and must plan an escape with a group of tank fish.
