The 21st century has seen a small but dedicated revival of Kawamata’s work. In 2015, a Tokyo university press republished "Yoru no Uwasa" with critical annotations. English-language readers have recently gained access to a few of her short stories in anthologies like "Tokyo Underworld: Post-War Women’s Writing."
