When you make a change to a document or file, such as typing some text or deleting an image, the change is stored in a temporary buffer. When you press the undo shortcut (usually or Command + Z ), the change is reversed, and the previous version of the document is restored. The redo shortcut ( Ctrl + Y or Command + Shift + Z ) reapplies the change, effectively redoing the action.
