I poured more vinegar, chasing the powder down the pipe. The fizzing intensified, the chemical reaction releasing carbon dioxide in a desperate attempt to break through whatever gelatinous monster was blocking the pipe. It sounded aggressive. It sounded like it was fighting.

Only for very slow drains that you use weekly for preventive freshening, not for fixing an actual clog. Even then, plain hot water (not boiling, if PVC pipes) works just as well.
