When you raise your hand for a high five, your body initiates a complex neuromuscular sequence. The brain sends a signal to the motor units in the forearm and hand, engaging the flexor digitorum superficialis and the flexor digitorum profundus—the muscles responsible for closing your hand.

Stand in front of a mirror and "high five" your own opposite hand with maximum force. Do your fingers wobble upon impact? Can you feel the solid engagement of your forearm muscles? If your fingers buckle easily, you may lack finger flexion strength.
