Nothing kills the "vibe" of a club before it starts like a line that isn't moving. Manually checking an ID, doing the math on the birthdate, and searching for a name on a guest list takes valuable seconds.

If your ID is slightly worn, bent, or has a peeling lamination, the scanner will flag it as "Suspected Fake." I watched a girl cry last Saturday because her real, legal ID (just old and beat up) got rejected by the machine. The bouncer’s hands were tied—if the machine says no, you don't get in. It’s efficient until it ruins your night over a scuffed corner.

In response to these concerns, many nightclubs have begun using ID scanners to verify the ages of patrons. These scanners use technology such as magnetic stripe readers, barcode scanners, or facial recognition software to verify the authenticity of identification documents, such as driver's licenses or passports. The goal of these systems is to prevent underage individuals from entering the venue or purchasing alcohol.
